(Daily calorie snap-shot here)
Well that’s not a pretty picture, is it? ;)
Yesterday I was pretty stressed out about that number. Thankfully I didn’t go all “binge monster” on the entire situation. You know, shoving fistfuls of chocolate-covered peanuts while procaliming “I”ll nevvvvvver lose weight, baaaaaaah!”

But in all seriousness, I’m a little confused about this gain. My friend Katie (who in on her own weight loss journey and works with me) and I both talked about how we seem to mirror each other, at least when weight fluctuations are concerned. I can be exercising like crazy, she could be eating junk, yet we’ll both lose 2lbs that week. Next week : I’ll be binging, she’ll be kickboxing, we’ll both gain 4lbs. How weird is that? We both lost weight over Thanksgiving, too. Hmmmmm …. me thinks something is fishy here.

I know I didn’t do my best eating-wise and I literally have not exercised (prior to yesterday morning) for an entire two weeks. Doe anyone else just feel overwhelmed by the holidays? Between that and my father-in-law’s hospitalization, things have been crazy around here.

Anyway – enough excuses, Emily! I want to make these last few weeks of December productive ones. Let’s end 2011 with a BANG :)

great changes are coming

Talk to me!
What can you do in the next two weeks to make 2011 end the best way possible? Any exciting holiday plans?

Oh Em, I am right there with you girl. I’ve used school as an excuse to lay off the running and healthy living all together. December has been one giant celebration!

But I can’t keep telling myself that I will get it together someday. When will “someday” be? I has to be today! I am really trying to focus on healthy food and portions through the end of the year.

We can do this lady! <3 you!

I find it best to not pressure yourself too much on the weight loss front during the holidays. Set small, manageable goals. Last year, my goal was to maintain. This year it is basically the same. The holidays are stressful enough and add in a family member’s health problems – whew! Focus on one thing at a time – maybe just focus on eating healthy and not worry about strenuous exercise and just say “I will walk 15 minutes a day” to get SOME activity in. You can do it!!

There is a fluctuation in our weight normally and the correlation is never directly relatable.  While you haven’t gotten your sweat on, I’d suggest that the stress of the holidays and your concern for your FIL are larger factors in this weight gain.  I’m willing to bet it’s mainly water and not fat.  (can we start wrapping our heads around the fact that we want Fat loss not necessarily Weight loss?)

Get enough sleep during these last few weeks, watch the simple carbs, and I’m confident that things will turn around.

Honestly, I think the fact that you manage to get exercise in at all is pretty awesome, especially a serious workout (and not just little walks like I usually do if I have time)… I mean think of everything going on this year!  Moving, your wedding, dealing with finances, father-in-law surgery, raising Little One, and now the holidays!!  It’s crazy!!  It’s awesome that you’re still keeping focused on your long-term goals (whether it’s with the blog or eating veggies for lunch), and hey, a brand new year is just around the corner…
