Good morning, everyone!
Once again, the weekend went way too quickly. Little One and I headed to Des Moines on Friday night, to spend the entire weekend with my dad and step-mom. It was a great time! Lots of walks, playground visits, shopping and laughter. She is so hysterical these days. Makes me almost want another one …. almost. ;)

Hubs joined us on Sunday for a family birthday party, where we all gorged ourselves on tacos and Better Than Sex Cake. Have you ever tried that? Holy wow- amazing. If you’re a chocolate lover, definitely make it ASAP.

Last week was a bit funky here on FFE (awesome acronym or just annoying?). I was having one of those “everything is stressing me out” weeks. Especially with work and that awesome 6lb gain. I’m really happy to report that I’ve lost almost all that gain already. The bad part is I didn’t work out much last week. I like to work out, so I was a little bummed. It definitely taught me a good lesson: I need more rest.

So this week? I’m focusing on my bootcamp exercises (I’m on week 4 of 8 already!) and adding in C25k and Zumba for cardio. For now, I’m taking a break on the Les Mills classes (Body Pump, Body Attack) until bootcamp is over. I definitely don’t want my body to burn out when I’m just getting started! All in good time, Emily, all in good time. :)

Something I am going to keep doing is my new yoga routine!

________________

I quickly realized after starting bootcamp that my muscles needed more stretching. I don’t have time to make it to a yoga class every day, but I can squeeze in short sessions in the AM/PM to ease my body! So every day (minus the weekend, oops!) I’ve been doing these two quick routines.

I’m really loving it :) They’re easy enough that I don’t feel too discouraged. It gives me a time to relax, and either wind down from a hard day or reflect on the upcoming workday! I can tell a huge difference with my recovery time from hard exercise.

What do you think? Is yoga your thing? Do you have any favorite stretches to pass along?

Have a great day, friends!

I don’t ever follow a specific routine – but I like to incorporate some poses before I go to bed every night. I’m a stretchin’ addict, so I do some of my favorite moves in front of the TV before I head off to dream land :) I think it helps me sleep too! Thanks for sharing, girl!

I really need to incorporate some more yoga into my weeks to stretch and de-stress.  Great links – thanks for posting!

I’ve been doing Yoga once a week for about five months now. Love it. I’m pretty sure i want to keep doing it for the rest of my life (but soon i’m going to read The Science of Yoga to see if that’s a good idea :) )

Are you taking a particular class? I would really love to get more into a regular and progressive routine (unlike these that are really basic routines) once I lose more weight. You and I are on the same wavelength – I always want to read books before making a decision :)

I love this! A little stretching in the morning and evening is a great idea. Thanks for the links. I will make sure to add these to my daily routine!

I’ve just started doing yoga on my “easy” days between more intense workouts, and I use an app (iPhone, sorry Android!) called All-in YOGA ($0.99), and it has over 300 poses to do. You can build workouts depending on what you’d like to focus on, time length, and expertise level. It’s seriously gotten me off the couch to do a little stretching and posing. It’s nice to have, for sure!

Thanks for the app tip! I’m getting an iPhone soon (fingers crossed) so I’ll definitely have to check that one out!
