What a gorgeous Mother’s Day! Check out that peaceful view from my Couch to 5k training from yesterday. I found a random bike trail and decided to explore it last week. Man, I’m glad I did! There’s nothing like running with the wind in your hair, the sun shining through the clouds, and butterflies fluttering around you. I felt like a Disney Princess! ;)

Well, I know at least one of us did …

This little lady joined me on my jog, laughing and singing “Winkuhl Liddle Tar” (collective “d’awwww” please!) the entire time. Lots of puppies on the trail + graham crackers = one happy daughter. She’s always loved jogging around with me, even when she was little. I remember just last year taking her on our first 5k together! Man, the year just FLEW by. (I just clicked on my own link there and freaked. Look how little she looked last year!)

This week I repeated Week One of C25k, and quite frankly, I might repeat it again next week. I’m in no hurry to breeze through the program. I did that the first time three years ago, and wasn’t fully prepped for my 5k. I want to take my time this go around; waiting until I feel like a pro in one phase before moving on to the next.

For those of you that don’t know, Week one in the program is doing 60sec running, 90sec walking for about 30minutes. I’ve been averaging about 2.5miles (with 50lbs of baby and stroller!) and really pushing myself the entire time. I’d like it to be just a little easier before upping the running distance. It may sound easy, but it’s definitely not for me!

But anyway … back to Saturday morning with Harper :D

This girl LOVES to swing. Full head-thrown-back, belly-laughing kind of love. We hit up the park on the way home, and I did my best to wear her out for her afternoon nap. We swung, climbed around the jungle gym, and slid down the slides. Oh, and this mommy forced a lot of pictures. Hey, it’s my job! Plus we ended up with this little gem that I posted for my Facebook Peeps yesterday.

Don’t we look purdy? :D

I honestly don’t jump into a lot of photos, since I’m usually taking them. It nice to have a happy mommy-daughter picture to hang up at work. Makes the day a little bit more bearable!

Adam and Harper took off Saturday afternoon to visit some friends of ours. They’ll be home in a few hours and I can’t wait! They gave me a full day to myself for Mother’s Day. Sound weird that I was giddy with anticipation of being alone? Where my moms at? I know y’all are feelin me on this one. (And so ends me trying to talk cool. Nerd alert.)

But seriously, 24 alone hours? AMAZING!! This mama slept, read some books, took the longest and hottest shower of all time, and just plain relaxed. And by relax I mean watch lots and lots of Grey’s Anatomy and Supernatural. Don’t judge. Have you actually SEEN Jesse Williams or Jensen Ackles? ;) Maybe one of these years I’ll be on a beach, with my #1 crush: my husband, for Mother’s day. Just us, a cocktail, and my toes in the sand.

For now I’ll settle for playground sand …

… and a good run. ;)

Time to put away some laundry (I looooathe laundry) and finish menu planning for the week! My little family will be reunited soon. Can’t wait to finish up the rest of this Mother’s Day with them!

Until next time!

Emily

Nothing is easy with a jogger. Life is about finding your own pace and rhythm. I love the picture of the two of you! So very very beautiful!! Your day sounds like my idea of a perfect Mother’s Day. (But I won’t knock the breakfast in bed that my boys did for me :) )

Aw, that photo of you two is adorable! Harper looks like such a lady. :)
