Is it really Wednesday and I’m just NOW talking about the weekend? Yikes!

Holiday weekends always throw me for a loop. For the week after I have no concept of what time or day it is. Yesterday I walked around work like a zombie …. which I hear is catching! ( <— did you hear about all this Zombie stuff? Funny and also extremely weird.)

So, pending Zombie Apocalypse aside, it was a great weekend! (haha)

Saturday we headed out with some of Adam’s work friends to a farm pond to do some serious fishing. Wow, was it HOT. The upper 90s are not kind to a fussy toddler and a chubby gal like myself. But we managed! Harper even caught her first fish. Collective “awwwww” please ….  ;)

My poor little one inherited her mama’s skin. It goes from ghost-like pale to raging red in about 5 minutes of sun time. Thankfully we doused her in enough sunscreen to keep most of it at bay! (And re-applied about 10 times over 3 hours). She thought fishing was the bees knees; petting all the fish when they were on the hook and skrieking with pure joy when we caught some.

After four hours and 26 fish (!!) we headed home, blasted the air conditioning, and passed the F out. What a long, fun day!

Sunday was pretty uneventful, other than my bother and his girlfriend coming up to see us. It was so nice having them here! Especially Ivy, who helped me prep for Harper’s birthday party. I can not believe she’ll be two years old tomorrow.  TOMORROW, people! Just the other day she couldn’t crawl …. now I get in the car, ask her how her day was and she says “Oh mommy, I payyed basssketbaaal with my fwiend!” I die.

Mommy collage alert … look how she’s grown!

Monday was the big party day! We decorated her door with hanging balloons that she (with a little trepidation) ran through. It took a few times of us showing her it was okay to bust through them and make a mess. Then we couldn’t get her to STOP kicking balloons around all day!

Then, in the backyard was her big present. A playhouse! We found it on Craigslist, because seriously – who has $300 to drop on something she probably love for 5 minutes? ;) SHE LOVES IT!

Family and friends gathered and showered her with gifts. We feel so thankful for everything. I totally didn’t expect such a huge turn-out. It was great to catch up with so many family members. We had kids, dogs, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and great-grandparents!

Some picture explanation from Top Left: Harper ECSTATIC about her house. She couldn’t wait to run out and get inside! Daddy isn’t invited inside. ;) The kitchen set up, ready for some food to be assembled! Harper with her boatloads of gifts, ooo-ing and aww-ing over each one! The most heartfelt gift of the day, slippers from her Granpa Dan, who bought them for her before he passed away. Sesame street cupcakes ready to be devoured! Harper’s BFF for life, Sylvia, taking the house for a test-drive.

I was a perfect day, and totally exhausting!

Once the crowd left, I headed straight for a hot shower, a cold beer, and a little time with Mr. King

It’s sooooo goood. (Please ignore my nasty chipping nail polish.)

Catch you all tonight for my next installment of Life of a Binge Eater. Hope you all had a fabulous long weekend and are adjusting to work a lot better than I am! :)

Thank you, Sarah! Every Wednesday I have a mild panic-attack of self-doubt about the LBE posts. Am I sharing too much? Are people going to think I’m weird? What did I get myself into? It’s so nice to hear positive feedback! :)
