Holy cow – how it is September already?

I have to admit, I’m more than ready for fall. It’s my favorite time of year. The chilly mornings, gorgeous leaves,  hoodies + jeans,  pumpkin flavored/scented EVERYTHING, and college football. What could be better? :)

I’ll tell you what could be better – losing weight. Smooth transition, right? But seriously. I weighed in this morning at 267.5 lbs. While that’s a 2.5 loss for the week (HOORAY!) it is, sadly, a gain from last month. It’s pretty obvious by my workout logs that I haven’t been kicking butt lately. The 260′s have been a terrible plateau for me (see my history of weigh-ins) but I’m bound and determined to bust through them this month.

It’s about damn time, right? RIGHT.

I also updated this photo as my Facebook Page cover photo, so I can see it ALL THE TIME. I think I’ll be doing this every month. It’ll be a constant reminder for me, since I’m kind of obsessed with chatting with you all on Facebook. ;)

So, let’s break down these goals:

  • Give 100% effort to break out of the 260′s. This is happening. I tend to get so bogged down by the big picture (A want to lose HOW much weight?!) that I miss the little details. 7.5lbs is a lot to lose in a month, but I’m going to give it 100%. Even just getting close will be a victory for me!
  • Move 60min daily. Throughout Tina’s Best Body Bootcamp, I’ve definitely been working out. BUT, not 60min a day of cardio. I love the strength training and interval cardio that her program brings. In reality, I need to be doing more moving. To me, this means a 60 min walk and/or jog every day. This is a lot for me to commit to, but before I had Harper I did this regularly.
  • Focus on detoxing from sugars/simple carbs. This is going to be hard, but worth it. WAY worth it. I know this is a semi-controversial topic, and one I hope to explore more. Are carbs good for you? Bad for you? What amount? What time of day? All I know is this: carbs and sugar make me binge. End of story. For me, they have to go. I’m taking part in a 21 Day Sugar Detox with a dear friend. More details to come, but I’m excited to see how my body will change/react to cutting out (most) sugars. This could be really good for me and my binge eating!
  • Plan for family outdoor activities. Nothing too fancy about this one. I simply want to make sure that the three of us do at least one move-your-booty activity per weekend. It’s a great time to bond as a family, and teach Harper about exercise, or simply just being outside. We already did a short walk to a high school track behind our house, and they both cheered me on from the stands as I attempted to run in the 90 deg heat yesterday. Up next? I’m thinking apple-picking is in order! :)
That’s the plan, friends!
One step at a time, I’ll get there. I always feel so energized and motivated when the calendar flips over to a new month. Now the trick is trying to sustain that enthusiasm. Let’s do this!
Do you have any big goals or plans for September? I want to hear about them! I’m cheering you on! :D

Great goals! You can do this!

It’s still blazing hot here (Florida) but I’m excited for Fall.

    My goals are:
Some Form of Exercise Each Day
    Increase Water Intake
    Decrease Screen Time

      Thanks, girl!!

I love your goals. Especially the “decrease screen time.” Lordy, do I ever need to take that advice!

I figure I’ll be more active just by reducing the amount of time I spend online and in front of the tv. I still don’t like the quiet so the radio will be on but music peps me up. I might just need to have my husband hide my laptop though…

Thank you for stopping by to comment, Chenelle!

I would love it if you followed along with the detox. It’s a little overwhelming to me, but I know it’ll be good for my body. Just like you described, sugar is such a bingeing snowball. Once you have a little, you want IT ALL, right?

I’m actually using this week to get through some of the meals I had already planned that include simple carbs (white pasta) and a few sugars here and there. Then next week I’m going “on plan.”

I’m going to post tomorrow a sample menu that I’ve come up with. I hope you will like some of the ideas!

I’m super excited that you are doing the 21 Day Sugar Detox. It’s an awesome program! And don’t forget, carbs are not just grains and sugars. All veggies have carbs! It’s not about being ‘carb free’ it’s about being carb smart! Eat the right carbs and cut out the sugars and you will be on your way to success! My goals for September are: Go to the gym at least 4 times per week (including one session with my personal trainer), Get back on track with my diet (and recover from summer birthday season!) and Cook Ahead so that there are healthy, fast options for me in the fridge, ready to go when I get home from work. Chris is working a weird schedule right now (5pm to 1am) and I know that if I don’t have a plan I will end up eating whatever junk I can find (there’s not too much left in our house, but still not a good choice). I’m excited about September!

I’m so glad you’re doing this with me, Renee!!

I think I’m actually going to start my Day One next monday, since I had already planned meals for this week. Tonight I’m sitting down and being smart about my shopping! I already am being conscious of what carbs I’m eating, though. Wooop!

I love your goals for the work, and I”m SO excited that you and Chris are doing personal training. I can’t wait to hear what you think! Here’s to an amazing September. :)
