My friend Lauren from Oatmeal After Spinning posted her birthday goal update this morning, and it got me thinking … OH CRAP! ;)

Yeah, remember when I made a 28 Goals For My 18th My Year List? Yup, me neither. I guess it’s time to check in and see where I’m at, considering I have 2.5 short months until deadline!

What I already have done (Original list is here, and 6-Month update is here)

3. Visit the Iowa City summer farmer’s market.
4. Visit the public swimming pool with Harper.
5. VISIT places more in general – make a point to explore Iowa City.
7. Volunteer.
8. Attend Fitbloggin 2012
13. Take 5 new gym classes.
24. Continue staying on top of My Health Team.
25. Go off blood pressure meds. (more on this later)
14. Participate in Iowa City Yoga Festival

Completed since last time

15. Learn a new “domestic” skill.
Does juicing count? ;) Seriously though, I’ve been teaching myself how to hand-sew (mend clothes) in order to save money.
16. Take a community college course to develop work/personal skills!
DONE! I took an amazing HTML/CSS course. Wish I could have continued the entire Web Design certification, but not enough people signed up.

In progress

18. Make Harper a family tree book.
19. On that note, finish Harper’s baby book.
22. Save for and buy a big-girl camera. (Cannon DSLR)
26. Have the “do we want another kiddo” FINAL discussion.
Ahh, the big debate. I think we’ve decided to not decide. I’ve researched adoption/fostering programs, because I think that would be amazing! It comes down to time/money for us. Short on both, unfortunately.
27. Finalize this website, which is really about a million goals wrapped into one!
So many things are happening behind the scenes this month! Lots of updates. I will be posting a Reader’s Survey soon, too, because I would love your feedback on what you love/hate.
28. Read 28 books.
You can see my 28 Books Pinterest Board - I’m on book 19! This is a goal I’m determined to meet. Thankfully, I’m a fast reader, so it’s time to buckle down!

Um ….

1. Take a road-trip with hubs, and w/o Harper (Seriously way overdue, and maybe for our 1 year anniversary?)
2. Take a road-trip with hubs and Harper.
Both of the road-trip ones might not happen, since we’ve made 2013 the year of spending less!
6. Donate money to a charitable cause.
        Ditto
9. Hit Onderland. (Meaning, 199lbs and never see 200+ again!)
10. Celebrate hitting Onderland.
Okay, probably not going to happen. Unless I somehow lose 70lbs in two months, which is never a good idea. ;) I’m okay with this.
11. Complete a 5k without stopping to walk.
12. Start training for a 10k.
17. Send out Christmas cards to family/friends.
20. Convert old family movies into DVDs
21. Check out the local UU Church for at least a month
I was just thinking about this over the weekend. I’ll have to see if the gas back into town every weekend is in the budget!
23. Write in my hand-written journal (at least) weekly.
        #FAIL.

Okay, so not … terrible, right?

I’m a little disappointed that a few of these will definitely not happen. This was my first time making a huge goal list, and I think I was a tad unrealistic with some. It has taken me almost 3 years to understand that I don’t have nearly the amount of time or energy that I wish I had. Any other full-time working mammas relate? ;)

That being said … there are some goals you have to make time for. You have to prioritize what’s important to you. Above all else, my health is #1. If I’m not taking care of me, I can’t be there for my husband and kiddo. Even if it means I’m sweatin’ it up at 4am every morning. It really makes me wish I had taken advantage of all the free time I thought I didn’t have when I was in college!

Maybe I’ll hit some more of these goals, but maybe I won’t. I’ve had a pretty awesome 28th year so far, and I intend to finish it out strong!

I think coming to the point where you realize/learn how to set goals is a huge goal to undertake itself… I tend to go all balls to the wall and then a week out realize “oh crap that was stupid” I’m pretty certain goal setting is an artform. You are doing really well at most of your in process goals! You’re a rockstar!

Those birthdays sure do sneak up you, don’t they?

You’re doing great! And your goals are awesome. I think that when I made mine I thought for some of them “Yeah… that might not happen.”

You can do the 5K goal. I know it. :)

And please don’t lose 70 lbs in 2 months. I don’t want to go to your funeral. But if you want to try, do a 60-day juice fast. ;)

There is so much power in making a list and sticking to it! Love your gusto, girl!
