Jillian Michaels Body Revolution: 30 Day Results + Phase 2 Kickoff! | Fit and Free with Emily

There’s something kind of magical about today.

I woke up right when my alarm went of (4:30am), busted my butt with Jillian, shot the vlog that’s in today’s post, curled my hair, made breakfast, and walked out the door feeling good. More than good, GREAT.

Mornings where everything goes exactly according to plan are few and far between in my house (hello, two-year old tornado) but everything just clicked today! Part of this is because Adam switched shifts, and now works at night. It is going to be amazing for our family! Now I have an extra hand in the mornings and we have more time together during the week. We went from seeing each other (literally) 30 min per day to around 2 hours! I know that’s still pretty ridiculous-sounding, but I’m thrilled. :)

Now, let’s get down to business, shall we?

Jillian Michaels Body Revolution 30 Day Results and Phase Two Kickoff!

Can you tell I was dying a little during that vlog? I cannot believe how many calories I burned during today’s set, and I was definitely NOT able to do everything! This week is going to be killer. I”m not going to lie to you – I’m a little terrified. Throughout the entire workout today Jillian kept saying “Oh, these SUCK. You are going to HATE ME.” True story, Jillian, true story. ;)

30 day measurement weight loss results from Jillian Michaels Body Revolution

Woo! In the past 30 days, I’ve lost 7.2lbs and 16.5 inches overall!

I’m thrilled with the results. THRILLED. I have a terrible time trying to lose weight (I’m in the midst of a million hormone/metabolism tests to figure this out) so seeing this progress is concrete proof to me that Body Revolution is a life-changing program. I cannot even fathom where I’ll be at the 90 day end! (I’m waiting to take more pictures until the end)

I did see some inch gain this time around, which I highlighted in light gray. This is a direct result of gaining muscle, but not burning fat, because of my poor eating choices last week. Nighttime snacking (on cheese of all things!) got the best of me. I’m four days into Meatless March and feeling fantastic about my food choices.

Here’s hoping I can take today’s magical feeling and rock the rest of this week! Onward and downward friends, we’ve got this!

How was your weekend? Any scale or non-scale victories?

YOU GO GIRL! I love hate jillian. I can’t imagine working out with her every morning, you are a saint for that. I love seeing progress!! I have been seeing little bits here and there too now that I’m being more mindful about my eating and trying to stick to a menu plan!

    • http://www.FitandFreeEmily.com Emily

Seriously, she is pretty much a bitch. ;)
Good luck with the menu plan! I feel so much better when I stick to some kind of plan, eating-wise. It’s tough to get into that habit. PS – I’m wearing our dress today. LOVING IT.

Ohhhhhhh Jillian. I bought her Shred-It With Weights (kettlebell) and it’s intense!

    • http://www.FitandFreeEmily.com Emily

Oooo I want the kettle-bell one! Are you enjoying it?

      • http://www.theyearofthephoenix.com/ Jill (Lady Lazarus)

Love it!! Hard work but so worth it. And I’m only on Level 1, haha

Awesome results so far! I’m coming to the end of Wk 4 and there are still some things I can’t do… But, I suppose as long as I keep trying, that’s what matters! I don’t love her Cardio DVD… I’ve been skipping it and doing my own thing, have you been doing hers or something else?

    • http://www.FitandFreeEmily.com Emily

I’m totally with you – putting in the effort is what matters! I really think that I’ll be able to redo the entire program if I wanted to … there’s just SO much that I could modify to make harder the next time around.

      If I decide I’m that crazy. ;)

Yes, the cardio is super repetitive and annoying to me. I like it, generally, but the fact that it doesn’t change every week is terrible. I’m going to start supplementing in some Zumba (on the wii) and running outside when the weather warms up!

Those are some awesome results friend, great work!

    • http://www.FitandFreeEmily.com Emily

      Thanks, lady!!

  • Brooke: Not On A Diet

You are killing it! Great job Em!! And I HATE those crab push-ups. I can’t do them for the life of me.

And you’re amazing for giving up cheese. Lol.

    • http://www.FitandFreeEmily.com Emily

Thanks, love! Seriously, they are THE WORST. I feel like there’s no way my arms can bend the way she’s doing it. LOL

Oh cheese. It’s a sad, sad month. ;)

Congrats on your results! That’s awesome!! Jillian always kicks my ass….and laughs about it. I admire the fact that you are waking up so freaking early and dealing with Jillian every.single.day. Also, congrats on the extra time with Adam. I imagine that will help you immensely emotionally. Having my husband around makes me a much happier person. Your vlog made me literally lol. Keep on keeping on, so excited for your victories :)

Congrats on the results!! I should really start measuring myself instead of looking at the scale. I am at a place where I would like to lose about 10lbs but honestly I would rather see my body just lose inches in places!

I guess the question I have is this: Do you think it’s possible (or wise) to do JMBR in addition to working out with my trainer and running? Or is that too much?

Also, is it quiet enough that I could do it while my kiddo is sleeping and not wake her up? Because that’s a 5am deal breaker.

I think I might attempt the 30-Day Shred (which I already have, but have never made it through) as a trial run …

I haven’t given up cheese yet, but I’m doing good with the rest of Meatless March. I made vegan, soy-free, gluten-free (actually, does arrowroot have gluten? I don’t think so) mayonnaise tonight to go on my bean burger and baked sweet potato fries. It was good! I’ll post the link on FB!

    • http://www.FitandFreeEmily.com Emily

YES – I would definitely say doing JMBR and training would be too much. From listening to a lot of her podcasts, she really makes it clear that she does NOT want you doing any kind of strength training outside of the program because of the specific plan/science/whatevers that she’s made. You CAN, however, add cardio. :)

I’d say it’s fairly quiet! Our livingroom right outside of Harper’s room, and she’s never woken up. Cardio can get a bit noisy because you’re jumping around like a crazy person. You’ll just have to curse quietly at the screen. lol

Oh man, that recipe sounds amazing!!

  • Less Less

Way to go on you weight loss! Sounds like an intense program.

  • http://oatmealafterspinning.com/ Lauren @Oatmeal after Spinning

Emily, you should be VERY proud of your results- that is AWESOME!! I really want to try Body Revolution- I never have! I do love me some Jillian (and her workout dvds that I do have). Heck yeah crab pushups! You’ll be breezing through those in no time. :)
Yes- not binging for a long time IS awesome. It feels so good to have that control, right?

I’m curious about the tests that you’re having done. I’ve had a few in the past and really need to look into that again, because something just is not right with me.

    • http://www.FitandFreeEmily.com Emily

THANK YOU, Lauren!! I think you would really love the program, especially with your body pump background. I feel like you would dominate the crap out of these moves. :)

I will definitely be posting about the medical stuff soon. Right now I’m kind of in a holding place (had to get my IUD removed so my hormones can balance out and be properly tested) but I feel really good about the doctor I found. She’s a hormone specialist and we’re going to be testing everything from metabolism, thyroid, cortisone, estrogen/testosterone, and a bunch of other stuff I can’t remember. (lol) Oh, and food sensitivity. I really do believe that for me, it’s not as simple as calorie in/out. I’ve been at this a long time and seen a few doctors here and there that just put me on drugs that do little help. This doc is all about using food/natural supplements to balance.

      *Whew* epic ramble. ;)

  • http://www.katievkatie.blogspot.com/ Katie M.

Great job! I thought I commented but I guess Disqus ate it. I was wondering how early you get to bed to be able to be up and working out so early? You’re a rockstar!

    • http://www.FitandFreeEmily.com Emily

I seriously LOATHE getting up early and every single morning I try to talk myself out of it. Sometimes I do. ;)

I have developed a series of tricks/prep work that works for me … 1) I go to bed early. Like, real early. 8pm-9pm. 2) I wear my workout clothes to bed. 3) I set two different alarms, both on complete opposite side of my room 4) I choose songs that get me pumped up. 5) I lie to myself and say “just get up and go to the bathroom, then go back to bed. Then I wash my face, brush my teeth, and wander around my house for a bit. That seems to help me wake up. 6.) I lie to myself AGAIN and say “just 10 minutes, then go back to bed”

Even after all that …. sometimes I still go back to bed. ;) LOL But most days it works! I also try to remind myself how great I’ll feel getting it out of the way and not worrying about it all day. The idea of coming home from work and doing NOTHING motivates my inner lazy girl. ;)

  • Stephanie Lindley

Look at you girl! 16.5″ You are such a rock star! You do have me a bit nervous to start next week though seriously I cant master some of the moves in weeks 1 and 2 lol.

KICKASS! Nice work. I’m glad that you saw results this month. It’d been a rough last couple of months for you.

    • http://www.FitandFreeEmily.com Emily

true that, sister. It’s nice to see some changes! :)

  • disqus_KLzbSynCfF

Howdy Emily! :) I was inspired by your blog to start the JMBR and today was day one and I feel pretty great! I’m trying to go by the 7 day kickstart thingy, and I’m feeling so great I might just muster up the courage to do two a days! Thanks a lot for the inspiration!!! :-D

    -Dana

    • http://www.FitandFreeEmily.com Emily

GREAT job, Dana!! Keep me updated, I’d love to hear your results/thoughts as you work your way through the program. Take it one day, one 30 minute set at a time. You’ll do GREAT! <3

  • http://twitter.com/shauna Shauna Reid

really loving your updates emily, you are rockin’ it! i’ve been eyeing off these DVDs for so long so it’s great to see such an honest perspective on them. all the best for the next 30 :)

    • http://www.FitandFreeEmily.com Emily

Thank you, Shauna! I’m interested to see how I’ll feel about the program after the full 90 days, but I’ve got a good feeling it’s true love. :)

  • carrie

good job. keep it up. i really want to do this, just wish that it was cheaper!! but you are doing great!

  • http://www.facebook.com/Pandora1977 Darlene Peach

Wow, I am so happy I came across your blog. I really am amazed on your progress. I have Body Revolution also, but have yet to do it. I am overweight myself and have been intimidated to do it because I am scared I might injure myself with all my excess weight. It is nice to see that you are showing us not so fit people that we CAN do it and see results too!!! I look forward to your updates!!! You are an inspiration!!!

    • http://www.FitandFreeEmily.com Emily

Thank you for taking the time to comment, Darlene! I’m happy that you found my little corner of the internet. ;)

You absolutely CAN do the program! You will be amazed at how strong and confident it makes you feel – and how quickly those feelings come! Keep me posted – I want to hear how you’re kicking Jillian’s booty. ;) GO GET IT!!

  • Jaime

Great job! I came across your blog doing a JMBR search and you really convinced me to get the program. I started this Monday doing the kick start! So have you just been doing the regular one-a-day workouts after the first week? I have my WW weigh-in on Monday and am hoping to see some positive results!

    • http://www.FitandFreeEmily.com Emily

      Thank you!
I did the two-a-day workouts the first week, but didn’t do her cardio disc every single day. I like to change it up with some Zumba on my xbox – things like that! I never followed the nutritional plan, just kept doing what I was normally doing.

I”m so glad you’re taking on the program! I have a 60day update posting on Sunday. It seems to last forever (I can’t believe I still have 30 days left!) but the results are great. I’ve never felt SO STRONG!! Good luck, girl!
